I make four-tier mobiles with five hanging lines. Each is constructed with round steel rods, 12 lb monofilament (good fishing line), and a variety of colorful buttons. The trick is in the weighting so the mobile hangs well, with room to move.
Generally, I make them in two sizes: one that hangs about 24-30 inches, the other 36-42 inches (tall). I'm happy to consider adding a tier or using single-color buttons. If you have a mason jar filled with heirloom or other special buttons, I will be glad to make a custom mobile to showcase them for you.
